As entrepreneurs, we're often told we need to find the perfect work-life balance.
But what if balance isn't the goal? What if the real goal is alignment?
That question sits at the heart of Cheryl
Quintero's work and the conversation we shared on the BLK GRL MOB POD. Cheryl, founder of Alani Creations LLC, is a Certified Health Coach, Certified Personal Trainer, and wellness advocate who helps busy women create healthy lifestyle habits that improve their fitness, nutrition, and overall well-being. Through her coaching, she empowers women to define what wellness looks like for their lives and then build sustainable habits to support it.
A Journey Rooted in Service
Long before becoming an entrepreneur, Cheryl dedicated her career to helping others as a radiation therapist—a role she's held for more than two decades. Her own wellness journey began after recognizing that the demands of school and work had caused her to lose sight of her health. Rather than waiting for a health crisis, she chose to make a change.
That decision led her to Zumba, then personal training, and eventually health coaching. Along the way, she discovered something powerful: wellness isn't about looking a certain way—it's about creating a life where you feel your best.
More Than Fitness and Nutrition
While Cheryl's certifications include fitness and nutrition, her coaching goes much deeper.
She encourages women to identify their own vision of wellness and develop habits that support the life they truly want to live.
There will always be conversations about exercise and healthy eating, but Cheryl believes lasting transformation starts with understanding your purpose, your priorities, and the daily choices that move you closer to your goals.
It's a refreshing reminder that wellness isn't one-size-fits-all.
Work-Life Balance Is a Myth
One of the most memorable moments from our conversation came when we talked about the challenge of building a business while working full-time. Like many entrepreneurs, Cheryl is what I call a parallelpreneur—someone growing a business while maintaining a career. Her perspective?
Stop chasing balance. Instead, pursue work-life alignment.
Alignment means recognizing what's most important in a particular season, giving it your attention, and understanding that priorities will naturally shift over time. Rather than striving for a perfect 50/50 split between work and life, Cheryl encourages women to build lives that reflect their values and current responsibilities.
That message resonates with entrepreneurs everywhere.
The Greatest Barrier Is Often Ourselves
When I asked Cheryl what has made the biggest difference in her own entrepreneurial journey, she didn't mention marketing strategies or certifications. She talked about mindset.
"The only barrier is me."
That simple realization changed everything. By believing she already possessed the skills, experience, and ability to succeed, Cheryl shifted from overthinking to taking action. She encourages entrepreneurs to trust themselves, seek knowledge when needed, surround themselves with supportive communities, and stop waiting for permission to begin.
Sometimes confidence isn't something you find. It's something you decide.
Just Start
Every entrepreneur remembers the moment they stopped planning and started building.
When asked what advice she would give women considering entrepreneurship, Cheryl's answer was beautifully simple:
Start.
Learn what you need to learn. Gather your resources. But don't wait until everything feels perfect. The journey itself will teach you lessons no book, class, or certification ever could.
The BLK GRL MOB Takeaway
At BLK GRL MOB, we believe success isn't measured only by revenue or recognition.
It's also measured by how we care for ourselves while building something meaningful.
Cheryl Quintero reminds us that entrepreneurship and wellness don't compete with one another—they complement one another.
You don't have to chase perfection.
You don't have to have every answer.
You simply need to take the next step with intention.
Because when your business, your health, and your purpose begin to align, success becomes more than something you achieve.
It becomes something you sustain.
