MOB BOSS: Maya Lynn Harris

Maya Lynn Harris (Sandston, Virginia) is the founder of BLK GRL MOB, a new collective created to elevate Black women entrepreneurs through connection, visibility, and access to real resources. She is also a proud mother of two sons and a full-time caregiver to her parents — roles that deeply inform how she builds community and leads with intention.

BLK GRL MOB was created to be more than inspiration. It’s a space designed for Black women to grow profitable businesses, build powerful relationships, and move unapologetically toward ownership, impact, and legacy.

“I’m not here to hype you up and send you on your way,” Maya says. “I build real spaces where Black women connect, get visible, and actually make moves. I open doors, make introductions that matter, and help turn ideas into action.”

The vision for BLK GRL MOB came from watching patterns repeat in real time. In 2025, Black women were disproportionately impacted by layoffs — often first out and last rehired — while still being passed over for funding, shut out of programs, skipped for mentorship, and expected to figure it out alone.

“This space exists because Black women deserve more than survival mode,” Maya explains. “We deserve access, visibility, and community that leads to ownership, stability, and legacy. It’s time to stop rebuilding from scratch and start building forward — together.”

Closing the doors to W.O.M.B. was not easy. It was a decision made with honesty and responsibility, not avoidance. “I refused to let the end of one idea be the end of something so important,” she shares. “Taking a pause allowed me to reevaluate what real impact looks like — and BLK GRL MOB is the result of that clarity.”
